Even though the phone may continue to charge when you use the emergency override button, water could still be present in the phone causing slow damage to your device. Furthermore, if that pop-up shows up, it’s a good idea to follow the message and wait for the phone to fully dry before attempting to charge it. Doing so makes it more likely the phone will get damaged. Even though the phone is water resistant you should not be intentionally getting the phone wet.
